An Interview with Danny Detox Vocalist of Gross Domestic Product, Although not from Canada a very good band.

Shaun: How many shows have you played??

Danny: six? maybe seven?

Shaun: What made you decide to start playing punk music? and what inspired you to do it?

Danny: id been into punk rock for awhile when we formed. i had been in an unsuccessful punk band with a couple of old friends...never got out of the formative stage. then i met another kid (our guitarist, josh) and we started jamming out.as to influences...there are several. stiff little fingers, the unseen, blanks 77, the business. im sure there are more

Shaun: Where do you think the future of the punk scene is headed?

Danny: our scene here in indianapolis isnt great, but i think its getting a little better. there are a couple new venues opening up and there seems to be an abundance of new local punk bands forming

Danny: in a more global sense, i think punk will never die out. a friend of mine predicted punk to resurface as a 'next big thing' sometime around 2003, but i dont know about that. i hope punk gets away from the poppy side it seems to have taken. wouldnt mind

Shaun: would you ever consider doing a show in canada? if you had the chance

Danny: i would have nothing against doing a show in canada. exactly how we would get up there, i dont know. ive been to toronto and i enjoyed my experience there. the kids i met were all pretty decent

Shaun: what are your views on alcohol & drugs in the punk scene?

Danny: i have never had a problem with what others want to do. im a pretty big drinker myself, but i dont fuck_around with too many other drugs. as long as it doesnt harm anyone else, any individual should be able to use whatever they want im not a big fan of people only seem to pursue the next high, but i also cant stand preachy sxer's. nobody should push their opinions on anyone else

Shaun: (if any) what do you think are some of the bad influences in the punk scene today?

Danny: bad influences? greedy promoters that keep all the money they charge to get into shows, bands that think theyre rock stars

Shaun: where will your next show be? and how much is the cover charge?

Danny: next show is tomorrow, march 5th at smedley's here in indianapolis. five bucks for five bands

Shaun: great, thanks for taking the time to talk, and I hope all goes well for you and your band

Danny: Thanks

more interviews will be posted soon
