An interview with DJ Jamie Watts, from Toronto Ontario, Canada
Shaun: What made you decide to become a DJ?
Jamie Watts: I was always into music.. especially house music. Before I got my turntables, I used to tape traxx from radio shows like Deadly Headly's from CFNY and paste them together and make compilations...I finally figured out that I could be mixing these tracks live and thus became a DJ
Shaun: What inspires you most??
Jamie Watts: I'd say getting the crowd dancing it what really motivates me to keep going
Shaun: Where do you think the rave/club scene is headed? and what do you think are some of the bad influences in it?
Jamie Watts: In my opinion.. the mainstream scene is going to shit, because of the bad drugs.. ie crystal, PCP, GHB that are going around. People are destroying themselves in the process which reflects on how the scene is going. However, small parties are coming on strong and bringing the vibe back like the way it used to be..
Shaun: being a dj, what do you hope to accomplish in the next year?
Jamie Watts: this year I plan to throw some small productions and work my way up, Because of the high competition.. it's more and more difficult to get gigs, I say fuck em.. I'll do it myself. I'm also working on producing music and doing live P.As eventually
Shaun: Whats your idea of a perfect party?
Jamie Watts: The perfect party? hmmm.. It's a party where every1 is really having a good time, where ppl will bump into U and say sorry, where no one is out there to battle you on the dance floor to satisfy their egos.. It's where you can actually go up to someone U don't know and make a new friend
Shaun: wikkid, When will your next party be?
Jamie Watts: to tell you the truth.. we plan on throwing a small party in spring.. The cover charge will be about $10 or just enuff to cover the expenses.. We're not in it for the money right now :) I just want the satifaction of throwing something remarkable.
More DJ interviews will be posted shortly. Keep checking back for updates.
